ARCHIVED NEWS FOR 2004

December 23rd 2004

YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION SHORTAGE.

Due to a national shortage of yellow fever vaccinations, supplies will not be available until mid February 2005. Supplies at Boughton Health Centre are extremely limited as a result.

Anyone requiring this vaccine who is not a patient registered with us must contact the School of Tropical Medicine in Liverpool (Telephone: 0151 708 9393 click me for website).

  • Winter FLU Campaign: We are now once again able to accept bookings for Flu vaccinations. Dates from November 3rd are available.

We would like to offer our apologies to those inconvenienced by the recent shortage in Flu vaccines. This situation was beyond our control and we have since sought alternative suppliers of the vaccine.

You can read more information regarding the Flu jab here.

  • New GP: Dr Sarah Aston will be joining us as our new retained GP effective from November 1st 2004. Dr Aston was a locum with us earlier this year helping cover the maternity leave of Drs Bertram & Jones.

June 2004 - Medicine Name Changes

  • The name of one or more of your medicines may be changing.

This change is to help make sure that all medicines in the future are known by one nontrademark name only (a non-trademark name is the official name for the type of medicine).

  • Previously, some medicines had two different names which can cause confusion.
  • You should always check that you are taking the right medicine if you do not
recognise its name. If you are at all concerned that you may not have received the correct medicine, please speak to your pharmacist or doctor.
  • For more infromation see the official MHRA Website. You can also contact NHSDirect on 0845 4647.
